Former South Africa all-rounder JP Duminy has taken a permanent break from all forms of cricket following a bout of injury which kept him out of the Mzansi Super League (MSL). The veteran player had called time on his international career at the conclusion of South Africa’s poor World Cup campaign last year.
In the aftermath of the marquee 50-over event, Duminy turned out in the Global T20 in Canada and was part of the victorious Barbados Tridents in the Caribbean Premier League. He was then set to feature in the MSL for Paarl Rocks but had to withdraw from the tournament due to an injury.
"I am young enough to play and still earn money from the franchise game, but I am lacking a strong purpose with that,” Duminy admitted. It remains to be seen what role he will now take on in the cricketing circuit though he recently was part of the Rocks in the mentorship capacity.
