Former Australian cricketer and current commentator Matthew Hayden took a jibe at Virat Kohli for demoting himself down the order. The left-handed opening batsman questioned Virat’s decision and said that there should be absolutely no debate about it.
Hayden spoke his heart out during commentary of the first ODI match played between Australia and India at Wankhede, “Why is there even any debate about it? He should just be batting No.3. Make the tough call, someone is going to miss out, the form will prevail, the injury will prevail, and someone (else) will get their opportunity.” – Hayden.
He feels that Virat Kohli has got immense success batting at the number 3 position, therefore, there should be no reason for batting down the order for him. The Indian captain got out cheaply while batting at the number 4 position against Australia in the 1st ODI at the Wankhede. Virat talked about his batting position after the match and said that he will look into this concern.
