Indian skipper Virat Kohli suffered a rare failure in the opening ODI of three-match series against Australia. The star player was dismissed by leg-spinner Adam Zampa for just 16 after he struck a lofty drive straight back to the bowler that was expertly snaffled by the Aussie in his follow-through.
Kohli’s cheap dismissal off Zampa marks the fourth time the 27-year-old has got the better of him in ODI cricket. Surprisingly, the bowler has gotten Kohli out the most number of times in the 50-over format is veteran West Indies pacer Ravi Rampaul, who has sent the Indian batter back to the pavilion six times.
The next two bowlers on this list are New Zealand’s Tim Southee and Sri Lanka’s Thisara Perera, both of whom have gotten Kohli out five times. Perera’s inclusion in this group of players is indicative of the fact that Sri Lanka and India play a lot of bilateral cricket.
Meanwhile, Zampa has also dismissed Kohli twice in T20I cricket taking his tally to six in white-ball cricket, tying with paceman Rampaul.
