Rajshahi Royals skipper Andre Russell led from the front with a fantastic knock to help his team reach the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) final. The Caribbean all-rounder thwacked the Chattogram Challengers bowling attack to all corners of the park in his belligerent 22-ball 54.
Interestingly, 50 runs of Russell’s total of 54 came in boundaries as he smashed seven sixes and a couple of fours in his freewheeling batting display. Rajshahi were beset by a frequent loss of wickets in their pursuit of the daunting 165-run target.
Russell first walked out to the middle when the score was 80/4, which soon became 128/8. Facing the prospect of being knocked out of the tournament, Russell then set up a sensational six-hitting frenzy leaving the Chattogram bowlers completely stunned. The 31-year-old expertly farmed the strike with tail-ender Abu Jayed and ultimately completed the chase in style by belting a massive six in the final over.
