Virat Kohli has won the International Cricket Council (ICC) Spirit of Cricket award for his kind gesture to Steve Smith during India’s World Cup match against Australia. Kohli responded to a hostile section of the Indian crowd and asked them to applaud for Smith.
Kohli, who often is categorized as an aggressive individual, surprised won admirers with his heartwarming actions for Smith. "I'm surprised that I have got it, after many years of being under the scanner for the wrong things," the Indian skipper was quoted as saying in a video clip shared by the ICC.
Amidst all this, Pakistan’s star paceman Mohammad Amir expressed his happiness at seeing his Indian counterpart receive the prestigious award. Reacting to Kohli’s statement in the video, Amir appreciated the batting maestro’s humble words on the occasion.
Amir’s tweet became an instant hit with fans on both sides of the border. The two have been engaged in enthralling duels on the field but have mouthed words of admiration for each other when they are not competing with each other.
