It is hard to ignore the prowess of Australian top-order batsman Marnus Labuschagne who is making whole cricketing community fall in love with him. Breaking into the team as a concussion replacement of the batting icon Steve Smith during the last Ashes series, the budding cricketer has refused to look back.
Making the most of his chance, Labuschagne kept piling runs to cement his place in the national team. It even pushed the Kangaroos to give him a constant chance at 3. Be it the series against England, Pakistan or New Zealand, the 25-year old continued to record his rise. He was the highest run-getter of the year 2019 in Test cricket.
Beating the likes of Virat Kohli, Steve Smith, Joe Root, Kane Williamson and Babar Azam, the dexterous batsman mustered a total of 1104 runs at 64.94. Doing so, he smashed 3 centuries and 7 half-centuries. As a result, the rising batting sensation was rewarded with ICC Men’s Emerging Cricketer of 2019 award.
