Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) chief executive officer Nizamuddin Chowdhury has dismissed the notion of Asia Cup being used as a bargain chip during the negotiations with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for the upcoming series in the country.
Nizamuddin stressed on the fact that there was no correlation between the Asia Cup, which Pakistan is scheduled to host. It was earlier being speculated that Bangladesh’s acceptance to tour Pakistan might be due to the shifting of the venue of the Asia Cup to Bangladesh given India’s reluctance to play in Pakistan.
“There is no relation between Asia Cup and the series. There was a discussion regarding the Asia Cup venue on the sideline of the meeting. Pakistan is the host of the tournament but they may not host it as India will not tour Pakistan”- Nizamuddin said.
