The Pakistan selection committee has made the surprising move to include Mohammad Hafeez and Shoaib Malik in the squad for the three T20Is against Bangladesh. The senior duo has not been part of the national side since their underwhelming campaign at the ICC World Cup but have now been added to the squad.
While interacting with the media during the announcement of the 15-member squad, T20 skipper Babar Azam revealed that the selectors inducted Hafeez and Malik upon his suggestion.
“I am happy with the selected squad and want to thank the selection committee for entertaining my request for Mohammad Hafeez and Shoaib Malik. I believe they still have plenty to offer to Pakistan cricket in the shortest format and their experience can be critical to our performances in the upcoming series," Babar said.
The elegant batsman was reported to have earlier insisted upon the inclusion of Malik and Hafeez for the Australia tour as well but his suggestion was shot down by the selectors.
