Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin is signed by England’s county cricket club Yorkshire for the County Championship season 2020. The 33-year old is expected to play at least 8 games for Yorkshire as per the deal. The off-spinner has also represented Worcestershire and Nottinghamshire in his previous County stints.
Ashwin will fly to England after the conclusion of the Indian Premier League (IPL) and he has also received permission from BCCI to take some extra days off. Ravi Ashwin will replace the South African spinner Keshav Maharaj, who grabbed 38 scalps with Yorkshire in 2019.
The side, which was lifted by the greats of the game including Sachin Tendulkar, Inzamam-ul-Haq, Michael Bevan, Herschelle Gibbs, and Stephen Fleming, will provide Ashwin with an opportunity to hone his skills as he will be the key bowler for India throughout the ICC Test Championship. Ashwin, talking about his new deal, said that he is thrilled to join Yorkshire and he is hopeful that his role as a spinner will contribute to the success of the side.
