Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah, the Pakistani pacers, recently did well in Test cricket in the absence of Mohammad Amir, Wahab Riaz and Hasan Ali. Sturdy outings against Sri Lanka forced the paceman Umar Gul to acknowledge the prowess of these budding pacers as he predicted a bright future for both Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah.
In the red-ball series against Islanders, Shaheen picked 8 wickets at 23.25 and Naseem hunted 7 scalps at 27.71. While Gul lauded the talent of these bowlers, he requested all the cricket pundits to give Shaheen and Naseem some time and not compare them with greats of past. Moreover, the 35-year old hoped to see the pace duo turning into a deadly bowling pair for Pakistan.
“Shaheen and Naseem are really impressive and did well in recent times for Pakistan. If they keep working hard and we allow them to develop well, they can do wonders for the country. However, it is important not to compare them with iconic bowlers of past as these are budding cricketers” said by Umar Gul in an interview.
