Fawad Alam’s long-awaited return to Test cricket has received another boost as he has been included in the 19 probable’s for the upcoming series against Bangladesh. The veteran left-handed batsman was rewarded for his prolific run in domestic cricket with a spot in the Test squad for the Sri Lanka encounters but he failed to get a game.
Fawad last represented Pakistan in a Test match back in 2009 and was instantaneously dropped from the side despite racking up a sensational 168 in his debut against Sri Lanka. He has since then amassed a plethora of runs in the domestic circuit, often topping the charts in Pakistan’s domestic four-day competition.
The 34-year-old was then plucked out of the wilderness with a place in the Test squad for the home series against Sri Lanka. His chances of staging a return to the national side though remain clouded in uncertainty given the team’s strong showing in their previous Test assignment.
