Joe Root feels his captaincy is back on track
South Africa vs England 2019-2020

Joe Root feels his captaincy is back on track

England’s Test captain Joe Root is delighted with his team’s performance as England vanquished over South Africa by an innings and 53 runs in the 3rd Test match at Porth Elizabeth, making their 2nd consecutive overseas victory. Root himself bowled pretty well in the 3rd innings as he grabbed 4 crucial scalps to dismantle the South African batting line-up.

Root feels that the guys (England’s players) are listening to his messages and are playing the way he wants them to play. “I very much feel like the guys are listening to my message, the way we want to play the game, and now, because we're starting to see results, it's really feeding through the group and long may that continue." - he added.

The England captain also said that there is a better impression of my captaincy to the outside world as compared to it was before. Root’s captaincy was under scrutiny after England’s ordinary performances in the Ashes series followed by a defeat in the 1st Test match against South Africa. But now with two back-to-back wins, Root feels that his captaincy is right back on the track.
