Pakistan’s opening batsman Fakhar Zaman is one of the most dangerous batters of the cricketing world. However, a constant decline in his performances eventually threw him out of the national T20I team. While many applauded the selection committee’s decision of dropping Fakhar Zaman because of his inconsistent shows, others didn’t agree with the move.
The latter list includes the former Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq who believes that Fakhar’s inclusion in the national team was needed as he brings a different dimension to the table. The 49-year old had no shame in admitting the recent failures of the aggressive batsman, but he reminded everyone about Fakhar’s significance for a team which suffers from the dearth of power hitters.
“Fakhar is extremely dangerous as compared to all the selected batters. I admit that his performances in recent past weren’t good enough, but keeping in mind his style of play and his role in the team, you cannot undermine his significance. We should have given him the needed confidence” - Inzamam.
