South Africa announces ODI squad for the series against England

South Africa has announced their ODI squad for the upcoming series against England. South Africa will walk on to the field with a new captain - Quinton de Kock. The wicket-keeper batsman replaced Faf du Plessis as South Africa’s ODI captain courtesy Faf’s poor performance as a leader in the recent past.

The new management has focused more on the youngsters and invited 5 un-capped players for the ODI series. Lutho Simpala, Kyle Verreynne, Sisanda Magala, Janneman Malan and Bjorn Fortuin are players yet to make an appearance for South Africa in the ODI format.

Middle-order batsman Temba Bavuma has also been added to the side on the back of his solid domestic performances in the recent past. This series will be South Africa’s new journey in the 50-overs format post ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 and it will begin under a new captain.

Squad: Quinton de Kock (captain), Reeza Hendricks, Temba Bavuma, Rassie van der Dussen, David Miller, Jon Jon Smuts, Andile Phehlukwayo, Lutho Sipamla, Lungi Ngidi, Tabraiz Shamsi, Sisanda Magala, Bjorn Fortuin, Beuran Hendricks, Janneman Malan, Kyle Verreynne.
