New Zealand Under-19 Cricket team thumped the Sri Lankan Under-19 cricket team in the 15th match of the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup. Batting first, Sri Lanka posted a total of 242 for 9 in their 50 overs.
Ahan Wickramasinghe was their top-scorer with 64 runs. Adithya Ashok was the pick of the bowlers from the New Zealand side with 3 wickets. In reply, New Zealand’s 3rd and 4th wicket partnership got them on the track to victory before they stumbled with quick successions of wickets.
With 12 required off the last over, Kristian Clarke kept his calm and led his side to an astonishing win by smacking a six on the 2nd last ball of the match. Rhys Mariu was the top-scorer from the New Zealand side with 86 runs to his name. New Zealand has qualified for the Quarter-finals while Sri Lanka is out of the mega-event.
