AB de Villiers’ arrival to the Brisbane Heat camp has failed to overturn the side’s fortunes as batting collapses have remained the norm for them in the ongoing Big Bash League. De Villiers witnessed a brilliant debut outing in his first BBL appearance but since then has looked off-colour.
His last three scores in Australia’s premier T20 tournament read 2, 2 and 25 implying that he is finding it tough to adjust to the conditions. His woeful form paints a gloomy picture for the Heat, who languish at the sixth position in the eight-team table.
More importantly, the Proteas great’s inability to perform has sounded alarm bells for South Africa’s national side since his imminent comeback to the international arena looms large. De Villiers has repeatedly expressed his desire to return to South African colours before the T20 World Cup but this string of failures does not do justice to his talent.
