The problematic times continue for the South African cricket team as they lost the Test series against England (3-1) at their own backyard. Adding salts to the wounds, Proteas were fined for their slow over-rate during the 4th Test match at Johannesburg.
The penalty included 60% fine of their match fees and loss of 6 World Test championship points. England’s dominant performance left South Africa clueless which resulted in the mistakes from the South African captain and the players. This defeat has pushed South Africa at the number 7th position on the ICC Test Championship table.
After leaving Keshav Maharaj out, South Africa did not bowl a single over from a spinner which worsened their case. The home team was fined 60% of the match fees in accordance with the article 2.22 of ICC Code of Conduct. According to the article 16.11.2, South African team docked 6 World Test championship points.
