West Indies’ legendary batsman Chris Gayle has lauded Shahid Afridi’s efforts with his namesake foundation to help the underprivileged. The ‘Universe Boss’ termed his Pakistani counterpart an “inspiration” and wished him luck for all his endeavours to elevate the conditions of the downtrodden section of society.
Afridi’s latest initiative is aimed at creating school for illiterate girls in the more secluded part of Pakistan where education facilities are not the norm, especially for females. Afridi’s selfless step has received tremendous amount of support from his fans and fellow cricketers with Gayle leading the praises.
The backing of such a popular figure in the cricketing world is expected to push Afridi’s initiative in the mainstream and further assist his cause. ‘Boom Boom Afridi’, as he is more affectionately known, recently participated in the Bangabandhu Premier League (BPL) where he was a part of Dhaka Platoon.
