Sri Lanka were unable to negotiate Zimbabwe all-rounder Sikandar Raza’s brilliance with the ball on the third day of the second Test at Harare. The tourists succumbed to the wily off-spin of Raza, who wreaked havoc on Sri Lanka’s batting lineup in their first innings.
Raza’s magical spell of bowling saw him register the second-best Test figures in Zimbabwean cricket as he finished with exceptional returns of 7/113 in his 43 overs. Bowling non-stop, Raza was the chief destroyer of Sri Lanka’s batting as he helped his team a substantial 113-run lead.
His first scalp arrived with the wicket of opposition skipper Dimuth Karunaratne and he later scythed through the middle-order with his remarkable subtle variations. Raza’s fine spell has placed Zimbabwe in a dominant position to achieve a historic win.
