Archer ruled out of the T20I series against South Africa

England’s fast bowling sensation Jofra Archer has been rested ahead of the T20I series against South Africa. Archer is currently suffering from elbow soreness which forced the England’s management to withdraw him from the series. His exclusion from the Indian Premier League 2020 is unlikely, however; he might not play the Test series against Sri Lanka in March.

Lancashire’s fast bowler Saqib Mahmood has been included in England’s T20I side. Saqib made his debut against New Zealand in the T20I series last year when Archer was rested. With the T20I World Cup just around the corner, England was expected to play a full-strengthened side but the injury woes have forced the management to think otherwise.

Archer will be a key player for the World Champions in the upcoming T20I World Cup, therefore, England is emphasizing a lot on his recovery. England will take on South Africa in the 1st T20I game on 12th February.
