Playing 35 Tests, 287 ODIs and 113 T20Is, all-rounder Shoaib Malik comes across as one of the most experienced cricketers of Pakistan. He made his debut in 1999 and became the 8th player to play International cricket over 4 decades during Pakistan’s T20I series against Bangladesh.
Recently, the veteran cricketer was lionized by former Sri Lankan opening batsman Sanath Jayasuriya who welcomed Shoaib in an elite company of players with such long International careers. The 50-year old applauded Shoaib Malik’s career by saying that it is a spectacular feat to achieve. Moreover, he highlighted the iconic performances of Malik against Sri Lanka while saying that the 37-year had a knack of doing well against the Islanders.
“Shoaib is an excellent and versatile player and for some reason, he always did well against us. He was very handy both with bat and ball. The secret for the longevity of his career is his remarkable fitness. Given the volume of cricket played these days, it is an extremely difficult feat”- said by Sanath as he went on to share his thoughts about Shoaib Malik.
