South Africa’s cricketing great Hashim Amla has joined Peshawar Zalmi as their batting mentor for the fifth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). The Proteas veteran boasts a terrific record in white-ball cricket and will bring all his experience to the popular PSL franchise.
Amla bowed out of international cricket in August last year and has been engaged in several stints in leagues since then ranging from a consultant role with Cape Town Blitz to an active playing role in the Abu Dhabi T10. Amla’s expertise will prove to be beneficial to the young stars in the Zalmi lineup including the likes of Haider Ali, Tom Banton and Liam Livingstone.
"His gracious presence in the PSL 5 festivity will not only adorn the Zalmi dugout but also inspire and craft the cricket skills of the emerging players in the squad"- Zalmi owner Javed Afridi wrote on Twitter. This will be Amla’s first association with the PSL as the upcoming season is expected to staged entirely in Pakistan.
