The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has included Umar Gul in the new-look Cricket Committee, which will be chaired by former off-spinner Iqbal Qasim. The five-member panel also comprises of Wasim Akram, Ali Naqvi and Urooj Mumtaz.
The original PCB Cricket Committee had the likes of Misbah-ul-Haq and Mohsin Khan in addition to Akram and Urooj before Mohsin stepped down from the role during the ICC World Cup last year and Misbah became the head coach-cum-chief selector of Pakistan.
Gul’s involvement in this new role, which requires quarterly meetings for the committee and their input will be remitted to PCB chairman Ehsan Mani, suggests his important stature in Pakistan cricket. The veteran seamer has represented Pakistan in 237 international matches and was recently a part of Northern in the National T20 Cup.
