Multan Sultans are all set to appoint a new captain for the fifth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). The Sultans were led by Shoaib Malik in the previous season of the glitzy T20 competition but the senior all-rounder has now moved to Peshawar Zalmi for the forthcoming season.
Despite the presence of former Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi and PSL veteran Ravi Bopara in the Sultans’ lineup, the Multan-based franchise is likely to name opening batter Shan Masood as the new captain of the team.
Although doubts persist over Shan’s white-ball credentials, he boasts leadership experience in the format in the domestic circuit. There has not yet been any confirmation regarding Shan’s appointment as the skipper though Multan Sultans co-owner Ali Tareen has been sending out cryptic messages hinting that such a step could be taken.
