Indian skipper Virat Kohli has heaped praise on the young members of his team following their 5-0 series sweep over New Zealand. India became the first side in T20Is to complete a whitewash in a five-match series and Kohli has credited the younger lot for stepping up during the pressure situations.
“All of us are really proud of the way we’ve played this series. I think the conversation we had was to always look to find ways to win. You don’t want to see what happened to Rohit [Sharma], but there were all these young guys playing well and handling the pressure”- Kohli said during the presentation ceremony.
India often found themselves in trouble, particularly in the last three contests with the home side posed to win the game across a significant part of their respective run-chases. However, the younger bowlers and fielders upped their game every time to help India end up on the winnings side.
“The guys are taking notice of it and they realize that the team needs 120% from them every time. Because only then you will find ways to win”- Kohli added.
