Pakistan middle-order batsman Umar Akmal is no stranger to controversies and has found himself embroiled in another scandal that could have a negative impact on his playing career. Umar has been accused of exposing himself to his trainer during a fitness test at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore, prompting the likelihood of a punishment.
The Central Punjab player was undergoing a skin-fold test when the said incident occurred. According to reports, Umar exposed himself in frustration asking his trainer “Where is the fat?” after he was found to be well short of the desired requirement.
Umar’s actions were defended by his older brother Kamran Akmal, who stated the 29-year-old was doing it in “mischief” and the matter was blown out of proportion due to a misunderstanding.
Umar has frequently been involved in disciplinary issues throughout his playing career. He last appeared for Pakistan in an international match during the T20I series at home against Sri Lanka where he was dismissed for two golden ducks in a row.
