Indian team fined again for slow over-rate

Indian cricket team ended an outstanding T20I series against New Zealand with a 5-0 victory. However, the team was fined 20% of their match fees for slow over-rate in the 5th T20I game. It was their 2nd consecutive offence after being fined 40% in the 4th T20I game.

As per article 2.22 of ICC Code of Conduct, the team is fined 20% for every over failed to bowl before the stipulated time. India was found an over short during the 5th T20I game and 2 overs short in the 4th ODI game. The consequences they faced in the 4th T20I game was the first time in 6 years that Indian team was fined for slow over-rate.

Back in 2014, India was fined for slow over-rate after the conclusion of the Oval Test match. Nevertheless, India’s winning streak has continued to prevail in the limited-overs cricket. The men in blue will take on New Zealand in the first ODI on 5th February 2020.
