Indian opening batsman Rohit Sharma has been ruled out of the ODI and Test series against New Zealand courtesy injury. The right-handed batsman reportedly tore his calf muscle while batting against New Zealand in the 5th and final T20I game.
He was batting on 54 when he faced serious pain and the physio was called on the field, however; no prominent improvements forced Sharma to walk out of the field. Later, the reports suggested that the injury was serious and the man in form needs some rest.
The Indian captain Virat Kohli has revealed India’s replacements plan and according to it the uncapped players Prithvi Shaw and Mayank Agarwal are likely to open for India in the ODI games against New Zealand. Both players were part of India’s A team for New Zealand tour but they are yet to make an appearance for India in the ODI format.
