England’s captain Eoin Morgan talked about Alex Hales ahead of the ODI series against South Africa. Morgan clarified that the way back for Alex is to rebuild trust with his team-mates which was broken prior to the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019.
Alex failed the second test of recreational drug use and was dropped from England’s side. Since then, Alex has not been part of the England team in any format of the game. The right-handed batsman is currently in sublime form as he has scored 568 runs in 16 innings for Sydney Thunders in the ongoing Big Bash League. Morgan commented that form has never been an issue for Hales it is just the lack of trust between him and the team.
"Alex is in fantastic form for Sydney Thunder at the moment but his form has never been a question about him coming back into the squad. What happened prior to the World Cup last summer was a complete breakdown in trust between Alex and the team. The way back in for Alex is to try and rebuild that trust and that takes a considerable amount of time. We are in that time at the moment."-Morgan said.
