Brisbane Heat has signed up Tom Banton in a 2-year deal following his outstanding debut season for the side in the Big Bash League 2020. The opening batsman was replaced by AB de Villiers in the 2nd half of the tournament but not before he caused massive destruction.
The right-handed batsman scored 223 runs in 7 matches at the strike-rate of 176.98 - the highest in the tournament. Brisbane Heat’s management is hopeful that Banton will be available during the 2020-2021 campaign. England will be playing Test series against India in that period for which Tom Banton might not be the potential candidate.
"I think anyone who saw Tom during his seven games for the Heat in the BBL would agree that he is a special player and someone we think can play an important role for us over the next two years'' - the Heat's coach, Darren Lehmann said.
