Mushfiqur Rahim is all set to become the highest paid cricketer in Bangladesh under the fresh pay structure introduced by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). The new pay structure for nationally contracted players is based on the number of points accumulated over the last three years.
A cricketer receives eight points for a Test appearance in 2017 while participating in Test matches in 2018 and 2019 reaps a reward of 10 points each. A similar pattern is in place for limited-overs internationals.
Along with this design of points, the BCB has also increased the match fee by significant margins for all formats of the game. This is the first time in three years that the board has increased salaries. Mushfiqur has thus picked 574 points in Tests and 1172 points in white-ball cricket under the new system.
