The cricket fans were left surprised after the Australian selection committee ignored Big Bash League’s star player Marcus Stoinis for the upcoming ODI and T20I tour of South Africa. The all-rounder, regardless of the disappointment, continued to shine in BBL as he carried his team Melbourne Stars into the final of the tournament.\
He scored 83 off just 54 balls including 7 fours and 3 sixes against Sydney Thunder in the challenger match at Melbourne. The Victorian-batsman has scored plenty of 50+ scores in the ongoing season including 147 runs against Sydney Sixers last month- making it the total of 612 runs in 15 games at an average of 55.
Stoinis was not considered for the selection as Australia is set to take a flight to South Africa. The selectors preferred Mithcell Marsh over Stoinis which raised a lot of questions in Australia’s cricket circuit including the criticism from the veteran batsman Ricky Ponting.
