The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is planning to host a two-match T20I series between Asia XI and World XI to commemorate the birth centenary of the country’s founding father ‘Bangabandhu’ Sheikh Mujibar Rahman. While there is still uncertainty over the composition of the Asia XI side, Pakistan players will not be part of the team because of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) simultaneously underway.
The Asia XI will thus comprise players from Bangladesh, India, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan. The BCB is currently in discussions with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to get Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma on-board for the series.
India will have completed their three-match ODI series against South Africa by then and the players would be busy in preparations for the Indian Premier League, raising question marks over the availability of Rohit and Virat.
