Yasir Shah's ordinary form persists

Pakistan’s premier spinner Yasir Shah is undergoing an extended slump in form, generating questions over his inclusion in the Test team. The 33-year-old was inefficient in the first innings of the Rawalpindi Test against Bangladesh.

He could not get a wicket and leaked 83 runs in 22 overs as Bangladesh lost most of their wickets to the pacers. To make matters worse for Yasir, fellow teammate Haris Sohail managed to pick up two wickets with his dibbly-dobbly part-time off-spin.

Yasir’s woeful run in Test cricket is a major worrying sign for Pakistan since he bore the brunt of the hammering faced by his side during the whitewash at the hands of Australia last year. He also failed to make an impact with the ball in the previous Test against Sri Lanka at Karachi. Yasir’s lack of form might prompt the Pakistan selectors to give a chance to Bilal Asif in the next match against Bangladesh.
