Multan Sultans’ decision to appoint opening batsman Shan Masood attracted backlash as fans highlighted his shoddy numbers in T20 cricket. Scoring 804 runs, the 30-year old averages only 20.61 in 40 T20 games. However, the management of Multan sees a strong 20-over cricketer and an efficient leader in Shan.
Recently, co-owner of the franchise Ali Tareen shared a clip of Masood’s batting against Lahore Qalandars in PSL 2019. An innings of high quality saw Shan mustering 48 runs while consuming only 25 balls, giving a glimpse of his brilliance. Backing the decision of his franchise, Ali said that Shan showed everyone his capability when he was given a free hand.
Therefore, he believes that Shan is the right candidate to lead Multan well in the upcoming edition of the highly admired T20 festival of Pakistan. The elegant batsman will be seen in action in Multan’s opening game against Lahore Qalandars, which will be played on February 21 in Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.
