Pakistan have registered their second victory in the ongoing ICC Test Championship by beating Bangladesh in the first Test of the two-match series. The hosts received a lot of positives in the form of centuries of Shan Masood and Babar Azam along with a memorable hat-trick of the 16-year old Naseem Shah.
However, a delightful sight for the boys in green came in the form of leg-spinner Yasir Shah’s bowling performance in the second innings of the game. The spin wizard has been far from impressive in recent times. In fact, his performance in 2019 was shoddy as he claimed 6 wickets in 4 Tests.
Even in the first innings of the Rawalpindi Test, Yasir conceded 83 runs without hunting even a single scalp. Nevertheless, he looked much better in the second innings. Regularly testing the batters, the 33-year old grabbed 4 wickets by giving away only 58 runs. This pleased the skipper Azhar Ali a lot as he sees Yasir as their ace in the purest format of the game. However, it remains to be seen how Yasir fares in the future assignments.
