Pakistan Under-19 coach Ijaz Ahmed has expressed his deep disappointment at his team’s humiliating defeat to India in the U-19 World Cup semi-final in South Africa. Interacting with the media for the first time since arriving home, Ijaz lamented the manner in which Pakistan were easily brushed aside by their archrivals.
"I was hurt by the defeat to India Under 19s and we should have put up a fight in that match. But I cannot go onto the ground and hold the bat for the players, all I can do is advise them”- Ijaz bemoaned.
Pakistan were decimated by an all-round performance from the eventual World Cup runners-up, who romped to a stunning 10-wicket win. Yashasvi Jaiswal hit a ravishing century as India’s openers starred in an undefeated 176-run stand to hammer their familiar foes.
