After getting thrashed in the five-game T20I series, New Zealand recorded a sensational comeback in the ODI series against India. Recording stunning performances in all the games, hosts whitewashed visitors 3-0. In the final match, India batted first and posted 296 runs on the wicket – a total which New Zealand chased with little discomfort.
One of the biggest positives of the white-ball leg of the tour for the men in blue was the batting performances of the top-order batsman Lokesh Rahul who also served as the wicket-keeper of the side. While it was a disappointing day for the men in blue, the aggressive batsman was again found in great touch. Showcasing his talent and ability, the 27-year old mustered his 4th ODI century. This was his 6th 50 plus score in last 11 ODI innings.
He scored 112 runs consuming only 113 balls as he registered 9 fours and 2 sixes to produce a memorable knock. To his dismay, it all ended in vain as Blackcaps were witnessed putting their best game forward to boss the final ODI and win the series 3-0.
