Jasprit Bumrah went wicketless across the three-match ODI series between New Zealand and India as the tourists crashed to a whitewash. Bumrah’s lack of wicket-taking abilities was a surprising aspect of his often economical bowling spells as India’s bowling was rendered toothless by New Zealand’s attacking batting charge.
Taking note of Bumrah’s shocking slump in form, India’s fast bowling great Zaheer Khan has suggested the strike bowler to add a bit more aggression in a bid to take more wickets. Zaheer spoke on the fact that opposing batsmen just play out Bumrah’s overs not giving him chances to go for more wicket-taking deliveries, which was proving to be a problem for him.
“Bumrah will have to understand that he has to be extra aggressive in terms of looking to get those wickets because he knows the batsmen are going to be defensive. So, he has to find that way of going for wickets rather than hoping that the batsmen will make a mistake because batsmen are taking a very conservative approach and making sure that his wicket-taking column is not getting filled,” Zaheer told a major cricketing publication.
