Apart from the stature of Pakistan Super League (PSL), the highly valued rivalry of Karachi and Lahore has grown to a different level with every single edition of the competition. Encompassing a plethora of seesaw moments, the two teams engaged in thrilling contests to swell the charm of this T20 gala.
Karachi and Lahore, being the two biggest nurseries of Pakistan cricket, are also responsible for producing many greats of the game for the country. Unfortunately, these two cities have failed to bag any PSL title. However, they rarely failed to entertain the fans when they came against each other in the 6-team event.
Now, the two sides are all set to resume their rivalry on March 8 in Lahore. They will meet again on 12th March in Karachi for the second leg of the T20 tournament. While Karachi has the firepower of Mohammad Amir, Babar Azam, Alex Hales and Cameron Delport, Lahore’s prowess consists of Shaheen Afridi, Fakhar Zaman, Chris Lynn and Haris Rauf.
Playing a total of 8 contests against Lahore, Karachi has the upper hand as they won 5 of them. Lahore, on the other hand, won 3 contests including a tied game which went into the super over. Nevertheless, it remains to be seen how they fare in the upcoming T20 festival, which is set to hit Pakistan from February 20.
