Throughout the history of the highly celebrated Pakistan Super League (PSL), fans have witnessed franchises engaging in gripping contests to thrill them. Peshawar Zalmi and Islamabad United have been a part of fantastic matches and one episode of this iconic rivalry was on display in the last season of the 20-over competition of Pakistan, which was recently brought to light by Cricngif’s Twitter handle.
It was a game in Dubai where Islamabad batted first to muster a total of 176 runs on the board. However, it was gunned down in an iconic fashion, thanks to all-rounder Liam Dawson’s last-ball four against Mohammad Sami. Fighting valiantly, United kept Zalmi under check to take the game into the final over where Peshawar needed 14 runs.
Sami did well during the first 5 balls as Peshawar was left with 4 runs to score on the last ball. Sami tried his best to bowl a yorker, but it turned into a full length ball and Dawson had no plans to spill this chance as he smashed it straight down to the ground to get a boundary. This gave Peshawar one of their most remarkable victories in the darling T20 event of the country. With an unbeaten half-century, Dawson ran away with the player of the match award.
