Pakistan Super League (PSL) defending champions Quetta Gladiators boast a balanced squad and look strong favourites to retain their title heading into the fifth season of the glitzy competition. While harbouring all the aces up their sleeves, the Gladiators have copped criticism for the continued selection of Azam Khan in the emerging players’ category.
The 21-year-old, who is the son of Quetta head coach Moin Khan, has played only a solitary T20 so far where he made just 12 runs against Islamabad United. His last competitive match came in March 2019 and he been overlooked for selection by domestic sides.
Despite the apparent lack of experience, Moin has promised Azam will conjure blazing innings in the forthcoming edition. "Azam's a talented player, a big-hitter and has tremendous potential. He's practicing and working hard and can make a big impact,” Moin told reporters.
