To speed up the pace of the resumption of cricketing activities in Pakistan, the tour of Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) to Pakistan was arranged. In this cricketing action, the green team hosted the prestigious club for 3 T20s and a 50-over game. Two PSL franchises, Lahore Qalandars and Multan Sultans, also became part of this historic moment.
The squad was captained by none other than former Sri Lankan skipper Kumar Sangakkara who was a part of the Islanders unit which had to face the horrible incident of Lahore in 2009. However, he was kind and brave enough to return to Pakistan.
Seeing all this lifted the heart of Pakistan’s bowling coach Waqar Younis who was found extending his gratitude to MCC. Particularly, he was in awe of Sangakkara. Landing accolades on the Sri Lankan great, former Pakistani pacer said that the lefty has proved that he is a great human being who cares for others. Moreover, he added that Sangakkara leading the MCC proved the strong bond shared by Sri Lanka and Pakistan. Waqar also hoped to see other teams touring Pakistan in future.
