Lahore Qalandars bolstered their pace battery by including Usman Shinwari in the squad for the upcoming season of Pakistan Super League (PSL). The left-armer previously represented Karachi Kings, but their plan to retain him in Gold category failed as Qalandars pounced upon the opportunity to hire him in the Diamond category.
This again was one of the moves which wasn’t taken well by fans. Highlighting the last year’s performances of Shinwari, fans feel that Lahore has made a major mistake. However, manager of Lahore Qalandars Sameen Rana recently shared the rationale of having Shinwari in the unit.
Sameen said that the tracks of Pakistan aren’t similar to that of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as pace plays a significant role. He admitted that Shinwari went for runs in PSL 2019, but also added that the pitches dished in Pakistan will suit him because of his ability to swing the new ball. Therefore, he is confident to see Usman shining in PSL 2020. Nevertheless, it remains to be seen how he fares in the forthcoming T20 festival of Pakistan.
