The rich history of cricket is filled with a plethora of special moments which swelled the charm of the game. One such episode was on display in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 tournament when India defeated Sri Lanka in the final at Mumbai. Following a historic triumph, Indian icon Sachin Tendulkar was carried on the shoulders by his teammates.
To acknowledge the greatness and specialty of this happening, the moment has recently been voted as the Laureus best sporting moment in the last 20 years. It was even more special for the reason that this was Tendulkar’s last World Cup and the desire to win such a title was finally met.
In front of a large gathering, Sachin was honored and he looked in a joyful mood. The 46-year old recalled the victory and admitted that the feeling of winning a World Cup can’t be folded into words. However, he highlighted that this is a reminder for everyone about the magic that sport brings into our lives.
