The defending champions of Pakistan Super League Quetta Gladiators continue their winning streak as they vanquished over Islamabad United by 3 wickets in the inaugural game of HBL PSL which kicked off in Karachi after a flamboyant opening ceremony.
Islamabad United, batting first put up a total of 168 runs courtesy an impressive knock from Dawid Malan. The Englishman scored an incredible 64 off just 40 balls including 5 boundaries and 3 sixes. Faheem Ashraf and Asif Ali also added useful runs for the United at the latter half of the innings. The star of the show with the ball for Quetta was Mohammad Hasnain who picked up 4 wickets for just 25 runs.
In reply, the star-studded batting line-up was found wanting at the top of the order with the early departure of Jason Roy, Ahmed Shehzad, and, Shane Watson. The surprise package Azam Khan became the highlight of the evening with his blistering knock of 59. His power-hitting ability awe-struck fans and critics. At the final stages of the game, Quetta faced little hick-cups but the Australian all-rounder Ben Cutting held his nerves and got the Gladiators across the line.
