To speed up the pace of the resumption of cricketing activities in Pakistan, the tour of Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) to Pakistan was arranged. In this cricketing action, the green team hosted the prestigious club for 3 T20s and a 50-over game. Two PSL franchises, Lahore Qalandars and Multan Sultans, also became part of this historic moment.
MCC won the games against Lahore and Multan, but got defeated against Northern and Shaheens. However, these contests were played well beyond the horizons of victory and defeat as the idea was to portray a soft image of Pakistan and convince other foreigners to visit the country.
Reflecting on the experience of coming back to Pakistan, skipper of MCC, Kumar Sangakkara shared elation. The former Sri Lankan great said that all of his teammates really loved their time in Lahore as the security was top notch and cricket was highly enjoyable, particularly in the Aitchison Cricket Ground. He also believes that the tour was able to convey the needed message in terms of official statements and interviews.
