While many cricketers are usually found preferring the white-ball cricket over Tests these days, Indian skipper Virat Kohli has reiterated the importance of the purest format of the game. The batting icon didn’t shy away from admitting that the ICC World Test Championship is the pinnacle of all the global tournaments.
He believes that the idea of having a global red-ball tournament is fantastic since it adds a lot more meaning to the red-ball games. The 31-year old, who is already the most successful Test skipper of India, also added that his team is eager to produce a strong show and make it to the final of the competition. Currently, the men in blue are battling against New Zealand in a two-game Test series.
“I think Test Championship, as an ICC tournament, should be right up there. All the other tournaments, for me, start under that. This is going to be the biggest of them all. It has also added a different kind of value to the Test matches,” Virat Kohli said as he shared his fondness for the ICC World Test Championship.
