Darren Sammy, the explosive all-rounder of West Indies, is one of those cricketers who garner massive fame and love in Pakistan. In fact, Pakistanis considered Sammy as one of their own. Playing all his Pakistan Super League (PSL) cricket for Peshawar Zalmi, the hard-hitting batsman became the face of Peshawar.
Moreover, he has always been extremely supportive to bring competitive cricket back to Pakistan. Reviewing all this, owner of Peshawar Zalmi franchise, Javed Afridi has officially requested the President of the country to approve the honorary citizenship of Pakistan to Darren Sammy.
Explaining the rationale behind the request, the 34-year old said that Sammy’s contributions towards making PSL a success story are countless. He also highlighted that Sammy was among the pioneer foreign stars who supported the notion of bringing PSL games to Pakistan. Not only that, Sammy has always been vocal in terms of expressing his love for Pakistan and its citizens. It remains to be seen how Mr. Arif Alvi reacts to this request.
