Karachi Kings have got off to a winning start in their Pakistan Super League (PSL) campaign after defeating Peshawar Zalmi by 10 runs in a high-scoring thriller. The pendulum swung from one direction to another as the momentum drastically shifted amongst the two sides.
Karachi Kings experienced a bright start with Sharjeel Khan clubbing a couple of sixes before he was dismissed by Hasan Ali. Thereon, Babar Azam and Imad Wasim combined for a stellar partnership that took the game away from Peshawar Zalmi’s grasp.
Hasan bore the brunt of the hits as he leaked 52 runs in his four overs and could manage to take just two wickets. Karachi racked up their record total as they crossed the 200-run mark for the first time in PSL.
In reply, Zalmi were plagued by a regular loss of wickets as star player Tom Banton was dismissed cheaply while Kamran Akmal threw away a decent score by getting out to part-timer Cameron Delport.
Just when things looked out of reach, Liam Livingstone breathed life into Zalmi’s chase by fashioning a counterpunch. However, Umaid Asif thumped the final nail in the coffin by picking up two wickets in the final over the match as Zalmi lost by just 10 runs.
